Climbing

I started climbing in fall 2017. I would fall into the category of casual climber, although I really do enjoy climbing and I spend a lot of time at the climbing gym.

Recently I dislocated my ankle.. I fell at the end of a gym session on the kilter board. Recovery has gone really well though and I'm able to climb again.

The best I've ever climbed in the gym is V5. I haven't done enough sport climbing to really say what I would be able to do. My best send outside is only V3, I have yet to get a V4 outdoors, and since my injury I struggle on V4 in the gym.

I started climbing at Allez Up in Montreal. I luckily did my first ever climbing trip at Red River Gorge in Kentucky. When living in Vancouver, I climbed at the Hive, which was really a sweet climbing gym. I spent my weekends in squamish when possible. In the south I climbed at coastal climbing, which is a really great gym, and probably my favorite gym I've climbed at besides the one I'm at now. They set really challenging and fun problems there. I was lucky enough to get out to Rumbling Bald a couple times, which is where I sent my V3 and I spent a lot of tries on Slave Driver(V4). It wasn't to be though...

Fast forward a bit and I'm back in Montreal climbing mostly in the West Island at Beta Bloc, which is a really outstanding gym. It's like the Hive North Shore, in that there is so much space and they have really good training equipment as well. The setters are really motivated and they set really modern, challenging problems.

Since I'm still recovering from injury, I don't have a training plan yet. However, I have signed up for the recreational team at Beta Bloc with my girlfriend, and it will be a really good learning opportunity as I come back into my full fitness and ideally into my best form yet!

I've got a bet that I'll climb V8 outdoors before a couple of friends, so I've got a long way to go!
